We Encourage You to Attend the World Premiere of a Delightful Dark Comedy

Are you always trying to keep up with the newest opera ensembles? If so, then you want to be in attendance at Fort Worth Botanic Garden for this one! Fort Worth Opera is excited to present a delightfully wicked world premiere of composer-librettist Rachel J. Peters’ “Companionship” on Wednesday, May 1st.

Adapted from the short story by internationally bestselling author Arthur Phillips, this delicious dark comedy follows the obsessive quest of an aspiring baker named Leslie Sinclair. Recovering from a nervous breakdown, she sets out to bake the perfect baguette when the 207,345th one suddenly comes to life before her very eyes. Begging to be fed, The Dough promises to reveal a mysterious “great wisedom,” if only she will obey its every wish and whim.

Companionship mirrors our modern world, where what we consume becomes all-consuming. Selected as a winner of the 2018 FWOpera Frontiers showcase, the work will receive a fully staged production in the Lecture Hall Auditorium at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, as part of FWOpera’s alternative venue series, Opera Unbound.

It is the first opera written by a woman to be produced by the company in its 73-year history. Ticket prices may vary and can be purchased online at or by calling 817-731-0726. You don’t want to miss it!

At The Depot Apartments in Fort Worth, Texas, we pride ourselves on informing our residents about all the upcoming events our beautiful community has to offer. Don’t hesitate to join this event on Wednesday!
