This Camp Teaches Girls a Fun Way to Make Films – Consider Signing Up Your Teen!
Know a cowgirl who would like to learn her way around professional film equipment? If so, take note: the National Cowgirl Museum is bringing back the Cowgirls with Cameras Film Camp for the second year in a row! Check out this stimulating day camp from July 22nd to 24th!
The Cowgirl with Cameras Film Camp is an opportunity for young high school girls aged 14 to 18. During the camp, attendees will be able to experience film making from start to finish, creating a film about the equine sport of cutting, NCHA, and Cowgirl Honorees. Students will discover the industry of cutting horse competition while learning their way around the camera.
Established in 1975, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring women of the American West who have displayed extraordinary courage and pioneering fortitude. The museum is an educational resource with exhibits, a research library, and a rare photography collection.
The Museum designates over 200 Cowgirl Hall of Fame honorees, with additional women being added annually. Honorees include women from a variety of fields, including pioneers, artists, businesswomen, educators, ranchers, and rodeo cowgirls. Women already in the hall of fame include Georgia O'Keeffe, Sacagawea, Annie Oakley, Dale Evans, Enid Justin, Temple Grandin, and Sandra Day O’Connor.
Cowgirls with Cameras Film Camp is provided by the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Lone Star Film Society, and National Cutting Horse Association. The price of the camp is $30, which covers food, camera equipment, and classroom learning. Attendees must be able to attend all three camp days in order to attend.
