Musician, Kenny Broberg, Proves Why He Was The Cliburn Silver Medalist
The Cliburn advances classical piano music throughout the world. Its international competitions, education programs, and concert series embody an enduring commitment to artistic excellence and the discovery of new artists. Established in 1962, the quadrennial Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is widely recognized as “the most prestigious classical music contest in the world.”
Now, The Cliburn’s 2017 Silver Medalist returns to make his first Cliburn Concerts appearance, after a debut season that included a recital tour in Hawaii and across the country. He returns to his alma mater, the University of Houston for its annual Texas Music Festival. It’s an acclaimed engagement with the Minnesota Orchestra deemed “highly auspicious… marked by poise and technical brilliance” by the Star-Tribune.
A native of Minneapolis, Broberg won prizes at the Hastings, Sydney, Seattle, and New Orleans International Piano Competitions before taking home second in Fort Worth last year. He currently studies with 2001 Cliburn Gold Medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch.
