Stunning Landscape Paintings Are Now on Display During This Western Exhibit—Check it Out!
The Sid Richardson Museum, a Fort Worth art museum located in historic Sundance Square, features permanent and special exhibitions of paintings by the premier Western artists, Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. The works, reflecting both the romance and reality of the American West, are the legacy of the late oilman and philanthropist, Sid Williams Richardson.
Discover a little-known side of a famous Western artist in “Another Frontier: Frederic Remington’s East,” a brand-new exhibit at the Sid Richardson Museum in downtown Fort Worth. This must-see collection features stunning landscape paintings of Remington’s homeland in the North Country, as well as letters, photos and diary entries.
Being in the East allowed Remington to develop a circle of artist friends and to keep current with art by visiting galleries in New York City. Among Remington’s many friends, he particularly admired the artworks of Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, John Twachtman, Robert Reid, and J. Alden Weir.
Frederic Remington’s art has so profoundly shaped our perceptions of the Old West that we only vaguely, if at all, recall that he was an Easterner born and bred. He grew up in Canton and Ogdensburg, New York—the North Country, the forested region stretching from the Adirondack Mountains across the St. Lawrence River into Canada. He made numerous trips to the West over the years, but composed his multitude of illustrations, paintings, sculptures, and writings in the East.
The museum is free and open to the public. Parking is available at any Sundance Square parking garage or the Sundance Square valet station at 201 Main Street. Bring parking ticket to museum front desk for validation. We hope that you check out this brand-new exhibit!
