See Benedict Cumberbatch Portray Hamlet During This Film Screening at The Modern

Nestled in Fort Worth, Texas, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is dedicated to collecting, presenting, and interpreting international developments in post–World War II art in all media and creating a welcoming environment for its public appreciation. The Modern promotes understanding and interest in art and artists through curatorial research and publications, and a variety of educational programs. On Wednesday, November 20th, the museum will screen a rendition of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

In this stunning audience favorite, Academy Award-nominee, Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock, The Imitation Game, Frankenstein at the National Theatre), takes on the title role of Shakespeare’s great tragedy. As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father’s death but paralyzed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state.

The performance comes from National Theatre Live, The National Theatre of Great Britain’s initiative to broadcast live performances from the National’s stages to cinemas worldwide. National Theatre Live performances are filmed live in high definition and broadcast via satellite to almost 400 cinemas around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield.

Hamlet will be presented by Amphibian Stage in partnership with the Modern. This is a screening of a previously recorded event, not a live performance. For ticket information, email boxoffice@amphibianstage.com or go to www.amphibianstage.com.
